It all starts with the Parable of the Talents.

In the book of Matthew, Jesus tells The Parable of the Talents. In it, a Master goes on a journey and entrusts his servants to manage his finances. To one servant he gave five talents—a large measure of money in the ancient world. To another he gave two talents and to the last servant, one. When the Master returned, he found that the last servant had taken his one talent and buried it, returning only that one talent with no interest. The second had taken his two and made two more. The first, entrusted with five talents, invested wisely and gained five more, ultimately returning Ten Talents to the Master.

We practice stewardship and always will.

First and foremost, Ten Talents exists to protect and grow investor capital. We are stewards of our Master’s possessions and will never invest in a business that we cannot defend to the master on his return. To this end, we invest alongside our equity partners in every deal that we enter and structure deals so that we are paid after our investors are paid, a structure called preferred equity.

The Parable of the Talents ends with: “For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”

That is a harsh reality—but it is reality. In the business world as in the spiritual life, there is no excuse for failure. This is why we get up in the morning. This is our battle cry. We work tirelessly to find the best opportunities for our investors, to proactively innovate to meet the changing economic tides, and to take full responsibility for success—up to and including not getting paid if our investors don’t return a profit.

Who we are.

Talents was founded by Levi Keene, an electrical engineer turned technology leader turned entreprenuer.

Levi began his career at one of the National Laboratories designing embedded systems before switching to infrastructure where he helped build out the automated controls for Northern Washington’s electrical grid. Continuing in infrastructure, Levi ventured into the railroad industry where he ran the team that automated most of the largest train yards in North America including the largest train yard in the world in North Platte, NE.

After ascending the corporate ladder Levi left to focus full time on his entrepreneurial interests including Ten Talents Equity Partners (previously Keene Investments), Strong ON!, a kettlebell based fitness company, Philosophy for the People, a series of channels and books, and Keene Consulting, a multifaceted consulting company.

Levi lives in Denver where he spends much of his time building the Church, reading, and dreaming about his next sailing adventure.
